Matt Lemaster pitched 2 pro seasons, both in rookie ball

Franklin Heights starting pitcher Matt LeMaster threw a four-hitter and didn't allow an earned run in this May 1989 game, according to The Delaware Gazette.

After multiple errors, though, LeMaster still came away with the loss, The Gazette wrote.

"We knew our timing would be off following Saturday's double-header split with Buckeye Valley, especially against the speed of LeMaster," opposing coach Jim Warbel told The Gazette afterward.

While uncertain from the evidence, Franklin Heights' LeMaster may have gone on from there to the pros.

A Matt LeMaster did, at least. That LeMaster saw two pro seasons. He played both in rookie ball.

LeMaster's career began in 1990, signed by the Red Sox as an undrafted free agent. Neither Baseball Reference, nor The Baseball Cube record LeMaster's school or hometown.

While it remains inconclusive whether the Franklin Heights LeMaster is the same, both were pitchers and both were righthanded. The timing, a high schooler in 1989, also fits.

Regardless, LeMaster the Red Sox started with the organization in the rookie Gulf Coast League. He saw nine outings and started one. He went 0-2, with an 11.05 ERA.

He returned to the GCL for 1991. In 14 outings that year, with another start, he went 1-3, with a 5.70 ERA. That season proved his last as a pro.
