Richard Delgado signed out of Venezuela, saw 5 seasons
Elmira's Richard Delgado came on in the ninth inning of this July 1991 game, the contest already in hand, Elmira up 9-4, according to The Elmira Star-Gazette.
He then proceeded to get his three outs, while walking one and striking out two, The Star-Gazette wrote.
Delgado had that outing in his fourth pro season. It also proved his last. He topped out at high-A.
Delgado's career began in 1988, signed by the Red Sox as a free agent out of his native Venezuela.
Delgado started with the Red Sox in the rookie Arizona League. He saw 13 outings, 11 starts as an 18-year-old. He went 1-10, with a 6.64 ERA.
He moved to the rookie Gulf Coast League for 1989 and went 3-6, with a 3.69 ERA in 17 outings, 5 starts.
For 1990, he again spent time in the GCL, 25 relief outings. He also saw high-A Winter Haven, 12 relief outings there. Overall, he went 4-6, with a 3.86 ERA.
He split time between Winter Haven and short-season Elmira in 1991, 13 outings at Elmira and one at Winter Haven. He had a poor early July outing at Elmira, giving up two runs and three hits in an inning. He went 0-1, with a 7.85 ERA to end his career.
