Greg Graham saw 5 pro seasons, AAA, then took up golf
Coming out of his second pro season, Red Sox farmhand Greg Graham assessed the results to his hometown Park City Daily News.
The results included a .196 average across 82 games at high-A Lynchburg.
"To be honest, I was pretty disappointed in the year," Graham told The Daily News. "But there's no doubt that the organization wants me back for next spring."
Graham did return the next spring and he played at AA. His career ultimately spanned five seasons, including two in the Mets system. He topped out at AAA.
Graham's career began in 1990, taken by the Red Sox in the 13th round of the draft out of the University of Louisville.
Graham started with the Red Sox in the rookie Gulf Coast League and at high-A Winter Haven. He hit .174 between them in 41 games.
He then saw Lynchburg for 1991. He also saw nine games at high-A Winter Haven and went 7 for 22 there. For 1992, he played at AA New Britain. In 104 games, he hit .225.
Upset that he wasn't moved up to AAA, he briefly quit, before signing with the Mets and and playing at high-A St. Lucie. He saw an abbreviated 26 games in 1993, then saw AA Binghamton and AAA Norfolk in 1994.
"(Quitting the Red Sox) really was a hasty decision by me. I probably screwed up," Graham told The Norfolk Virginian-Pilot in July 1994 at AAA Norfolk.
Graham then returned to Norfolk for 1995. He saw 47 games and hit .197 to end his career.
Graham has since settled in the Louisville area and turned to a different sport, golf. In 2026, he runs Graham Golf Academy as a licensed PGA professional.
