Luis Centeno played in two GCL seasons with the Red Sox
But he also appears to have spent time in Puerto Rico, playing for the Titanes de Florida, of the Puerto Rico AA Superior Baseball League.
In 2017, Titanes even noted Centeno in a Facebook post, including a full name Luis Centeno Viruet, a career description that matched the Red Sox Centeno and the team's only photo of Centeno.
Centino's minor league career began in 1990, signed by the Red Sox. His formal origin is not included on stat sites.
He started in the rookie Gulf Coast League. He got into 16 games in 1990, starting one. He went 2-2, with a 6.10 ERA and one save. By early July, he'd picked up a win and held a 2.53 ERA.
He then returned to the GCL for 1991. He saw 13 outings that year, with another start. Overall, he went 1-3, with a 4.50 ERA and one start. That season marked his last as a pro.
That Titanes de Florida post also included a comment from someone with a similar name, Luis Centeno, of Puerto Rico. "Ese es mi Padre." "That's my father."
"¡Un padre ejemplar, muchas bendiciones para ambos!" "An exemplary father, many blessings to you both!" Titanes responded.
