Suliban Luciano hit big GCL Mets homer, saw 2 seasons
The Kingsport Mets won this August 1991 game 3-0 and the Mets' Suliban Luciano provided all their offense, The Martinsville Bulletin wrote.
With two on and the game scoreless in the sixth inning, Luciano launched a three-run home run to give his team the lead and send them on their way to the win, The Bulletin wrote.
Luciano hit that home run in his second season as a pro. It also proved his last. He played both seasons at rookie ball.
Luciano's career began in 1990, signed by the Mets as a free agent out of his native Dominican Republic.
Luciano started with the Mets in the rookie Gulf Coast League. He saw 46 games and hit .181. He hit a home run in a June game, one of four he hit on the year.
Luciano moved to rookie Kingsport for 1991. He picked up a double and a triple in a July game. He singled and scored in a game later that month.
Overall, Luciano saw 53 games for Kingsport that summer. He hit .203, with four home runs to end his career.
