Bobby Green performed solidly over 6 seasons, made AAA

Coming out of Cochise College in 1983, Bobby Green had multiple options, for both bigger schools and the pros, according to The Tampa Tribune.

He chose Florida Southern and head coach Joe Arnold was happy to have him, The Tribune wrote.

"Bob Green will step in and play one of three outfield positions vacated by seniors," Arnold told The Tribune after signing Green that May. "He gives us a solid performer defensively as well as being a great offensive threat."

Green continued to perform solidly through his time at Florida Southern and then in the pros. His pro career lasted six seasons. He topped out at AAA.

Green's pro career began in 1985, taken by the Yankees in the fifth round of the draft out of Florida Southern. Green was also credited as Bob Green.

At Florida Southern, Green went 8 for 13 in a stretch of three Division II South Region Baseball Tournament games in May 1985. He also knocked in 10 as his season average hit .417.

Later that month, Green's team when against Cal Poly-Pomona in the Division II World Series, with Green and a Cal Poly player dueling for the Division II single-season doubles record, according to The Birmingham News

"He can have the national record," Green told The News in the leadup to the game. "Just give me the national championship."

Florida Southern took the title. Green then turned pro. 

He started with the Yankees at short-season Oneonta. He hit .260 over 39 games there. He then moved to single-A Fort Lauderdale for 1986. In  45 games, he hit .214.

Green saw 118 games at Fort Lauderdale in 1987 and hit .274 with six home runs. In one May 1987 game, he went 2 for 4, with two RBI. He then went 3 for 4 later that month, with four RBI.

Green made AA Albany-Colonie for 66 games in 1988, and then AAA Columbus for 56 that year. He hit .240 in 122 games overall that year.

For 1989, he saw 71 games at Albany-Colonie and eight at Columbus. His last pro time came in 1990, with a single game at Columbus.
