Released by the Yankees after two season in rookie ball, Scott Kindell got a job, but also kept in shape, The Stuart News wrote in September 1993.

Then, after a season away, his friends read about a Mets tryout locally, The News wrote.

"They saw it in the paper and asked if I wanted to go," Kindell told The News then. "I still wanted to play, so I figured I'd give it a shot."

The left-hander did and he got signed. He ended up playing in three more seasons, for five in all. He topped out briefly at AA.

Kindell's career began in 1990, signed by the Yankees out of Fort Pierce Central High School.

Kindell started with the Yankees in the rookie Gulf Coast League. He got four outings in 1990. He gave up four earned in 6.1 innings.

He returned to the GCL for 1991. He saw 21 outings, four starts, that year. He ended with a 3.67 ERA and an 0-4 record.

Kindell then got released and spent 1992 away from the game. He then signed with the Mets out of that tryout camp.

"I'm happy just to be playing baseball again," Kindell told The Fort Pierce Tribune in July 1993.

Kindell saw 14 relief outings for the GCL Mets that year and one for high-A St. Lucie. He ended with a 1.42 ERA and one save.

He then played between rookie Kingsport and St. Lucie in 1994. He spoke to The News that May about how he was more calm on the mound than he used to be.

"I want to make (the Yankees) feel they gave up on me too early," Kindell told The News. "I've seen the worst. All that can happen s I get released and I've seen that, so I'm taking things one day at a time."

Kindell saw 22 outings on the year, with a 2.70 ERA. He returned for 1995, largely at short-season Pittsfield, but he also saw a game each at single-A Capital City and AA Binghamton. He went 4-1, with a 2.25 ERA to end his career.
