Everett Giants reliever Jimmy Terrill had a strong start to his pro career in June and July 1987, The Everett Daily Herald wrote.

He'd gone 12.1 innings and hadn't given up a run, The Daily Herald wrote.

"I'm afraid to send my stats home," Terrill told The Daily Herald. "They'll think I'm lying."

Terrell went on from that start to see five pro seasons. He topped out at AA.

Terrell's career began that year in 1987, taken by the Giants in the 25th round of the draft out of Lamar University in Texas. He was also credited as Jim Terrill.

Terrell started with the Giants at short-season Everett. He saw 30 relief outings, went 2-1 and saved 11.

By late July, Terrell was the club's regular closer. His run of scoreless appearances had also hit 13, representing 21.1 innings of work, The Salem Statesman Journal wrote.

"Terrill makes a manager look smart," Everett manager Joe Strain told The Statesman Journal. "We can attribute a lot of our wins to him."

Terrill moved to single-A Clinton for 1988 and saw 39 outings, one start and had a 1.71 ERA. He went 2-2 with eight saves.

He moved to single-A San Jose for 1989 and had a 2.86 ERA in 55 outings. For 1990, he arrived in the Dodgers system at high-A Vero Beach. 

He arrived at Vero Beach in mid-May and, as a starter, went 10-2 by mid-August. His 10th, a shutout over eight innings, helped his team out of a funk, The Indian River Press Journal wrote.

"Jimmy Terrill went out there and took charge," Vero Beach manager Joe Alvarez told The Press Journal. "It was like he said to the team, 'I know what you need and I'm going to give it all I got.' And he did that and then some."

Terrill also saw three starts at AA San Antonio in 1990 before seeing 27 outings, nine starts there in 1991. He went 2-6 in 1991, with a 3.25 ERA. That season marked his last as a pro.

Chris Sparrow came back from slump with home run at Utica; Played two pro seasons

Chris Sparrow had his first big game in a while in this July 1990 contest for Utica as he went 2 for 4, with a home run, The Elmira Star-Gazette wrote . "I just haven't been in a groove," Sparrow explained to The Star-Gazette afterward. "I hurt my right knee earlier and after coming back, I've been 0-for-12. But maybe this will get me out of the slump." Sparrow ended up coming back to hit .281 on the year, but it wasn't enough. That year marked his second pro season, but also his last . He topped out at short-season. Sparrow's career began in 1989, signed by the Braves as a free agent out of the University of North Carolina-Asheville.
