The Fort Lauderdale Yankees already had a lead in this April 1991 game and Larry Walker helped extend it, according to The Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

He did so by hitting a solo home run in the third inning, part of a game where he scored a second run and also knocked in another run.

Walker was in his second professional season that year. He only played in one more campaign. Unlike another player with the same name, this Larry Walker briefly made AA, but didn't make it higher.

Walker's career began in 1990, signed by the Yankees as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Miami in Florida.

Walker played his first season at single-A Greensboro. He got into 79 games and hit .230. He also stole 11 bases.

He moved to high-A Fort Lauderdale for 1991. He went 0 for 2 in a July game. Overall, the catcher hit just .127 in 48 games.

For 1992, Walker returned to Fort Lauderdale, getting into just 14 games. He picked up two hits in an early August game there.

He also made a brief appearance at AA Albany-Colonie. He got 1 hit in 15 at bats there. It was Walker's final season as a pro.

Mike Anaya didn't think he'd turn pro, then he did with Mets

Mike Anaya waited a couple months, but he chose to sign. The graduate of Albuquerque's Valley High School was turning pro, The Albuquerque Journal wrote . "It's surprising. I didn't think this would ever happen," Anaya told The Journal . "I'm just going to give it all I have, just like in high school. It's a dream." Anaya took what he had and turned it into time in four pro seasons . He made it to single-A, but no higher. His career - and his life - almost ended in rookie ball, according to The Journal, as he suffered severe injuries in a car accident. He came back from that accident to play again. Anaya's career began in 1988, taken by the Mets in the 14th round of the draft out of Valley . He started with the Mets in 1989, in the rookie Gulf Coast League . Jim Doyle helped Salt Lake to cheap win, saw one season

Never mind it was a rain-shortened contest, the Salt Lake City Trappers ended a five game loosing streak in July 1990. Right fielder Jim Doyle , along with his teammates, couldn't have been happier, The Salt Lake Tribune wrote . "A cheap win?" Doyle told The Tribune afterward. "Just to get a win feels great." Doyle helped get wins that year in his first season as a pro. That season also turned out to be his only season as a pro .  Doyle's career began and ended that year, signed by independent Salt Lake City . His school and where he hailed from could not be found. Doyle started with the Trappers that June . He knocked in a run on a hit in one July game. University of Southwestern Louisiana outfielder Joe Burnett got drafted in 1990. It was just he wasn't so sure about the team that'd drafted him - the independent Miami Miracle, The Lafayette Daily Advertiser wrote . "I was shocked," Burnett told The Daily Advertiser of his selection. "When they called was the first time I'd heard of them. I really didn't expect it to happen. I don't really know what to think. I'm going to try and make the best of it. That's all I can do." Salinas Spurs hitter Ken Briggs started the 1991 season slowly, hitting .197 by mid-May, but he got going in this game, The Salinas Californian wrote . Briggs knocked two singles and a solo home run to help end an 11-game Salinas losing streak, The Californian wrote . "It's encouraging," Briggs told The Californian afterward. "We're happy. But we've got to come back to do it again Tuesday. But the clubhouse will be smiling." Briggs had that game in his third season as a pro. He went on to see just one more. He topped out at high-A . Briggs' career began in 1989, taken by the Twins in the 24th round of the draft out of Chapman University in California. Briggs went to Chapman out of Cypress College . Marty Lanoux ' second-half opening performance at Orlando in 1989 drew praise from his manager, Ron Gardenhire, according to The Orlando Sentinel . That praise came after Lanoux knocked in three on a home run and another hit. ''He's a hitter,'' Gardenhire said of Lanoux to Twins GM Andy MacPhail, according to The Sentinel . "That's a very quick bat he swings. He's been producing big runs for us." Lanoux ended up hitting .294 for Orlando that year, knocking in 53. But it was his last full season as a pro. He made AAA Portland the next year but he only lasted 28 games. He also never made the majors .
